Why USDA certified Organic?
The USDA Organic Certification Seal is the highest grade of organic certification a product can obtain. It is also known as the Gold Standard Certification, which ensures the product’s authenticity.
With an ever-growing desire for green beauty, many companies are using the word organic to present themselves as an environmentally responsible entity as a way to imply that their products are a safer choice. This is greenwashing. It is the number one reason the word organic has been diluted, losing its credibility and leading consumers to think that organic is just hype.
This is why Mizz Bloom products have the USDA Certified Organic Seal. We want you to trust that our products are the best in clean beauty and jam-packed with antioxidant rich botanicals and highly efficacious ingredients to restore skin to its optimum health and vitality.
Our Brand Values
At Mizz Bloom we are not about greenwashing. We take pride in the fact that our USDA Certified Organic skin care line has the Gold Standard seal.
We have purposefully set ourselves apart from conventional skincare brands by creating products that are the “best of the best” in clean beauty.
We take a firm stance against Parabens, Phthalates, Mineral oil, Petrochemicals, Phenoxyethanol, Detergents (SLS/SLES) and artificial fragrance. We believe that what we put in our products is just as important as what we leave out.
We work hard to optimize our products by sourcing the highest quality organic ingredients – it’s that simple. Our Lab is registered with a certification organization https://tilth.org to ensure we maintain the highest ethical standards across every aspect of our business.
The NOP Categories of Organic Compliance
The National Organic Program is the federal regulatory framework in the United States of America governing organic food.
De-coding the Categories
Certified Organic 100%
All ingredients must have a certification of 100% organic content. The USDA Seal can be displayed on the packaging, and the identity of the certifying agency must be displayed, verifying that the product meets USDA category standards.
Certified Organic 95-99%
The combined ingredients must have an average certification of 95-99% organic ingredients. This allows the remainder of the ingredients to be made up of non-certified organic agricultural products that are not available commercially as certified organic, or are on a short list of non-agricultural approved ingredients. All ingredients must comply with the USDA NOP.
The organic content must be at least 70%. All ingredients must comply with USDA NOP. This product may display the words “made with organic (insert specific ingredient).” The product must display the certifying agency on the package to verify that the product meets USDA category standards. It cannot display the USDA Seal, claim finished product is organic, or use the phrase, “made with organic ingredients.”
We reveal the truth about “Natural” in the Beauty Industry
Once upon a time when you came across a product that was marketed as natural you assumed that it was made up of pure ingredients, and it would be safe and non-toxic. Sadly, that is not the case.
With the booming green movement, many companies are trying to find ways to lure customers to purchase their products without having to go through any certification process. They use unregulated terms such as: organic, natural, clean and green so customers buy their product believing they are buying pure skincare.
If you are serious about wanting to use pure beauty products on your skin, look for the Certified organic USDA seal. This is the only guarantee that a product is 95-100% pure and toxin free.
The FDA has very strict guidelines when it comes to the food ingredients we put in our bodies, but what we put on our bodies gets a pass without the same scrutiny.
In Europe, roughly 1,300 toxic ingredients are banned from beauty products. In the United States, only 30 are banned, and there is very little being done by the government to expand that list. Apparently, the FDA does not have the legal authority to approve cosmetic products or ingredients, other than color additives, before they land on retail shelves.
